About Carrie & Smart Nest Spaces: As a Colorado native, I’ve always felt at home in the mountains. Growing up here gave me an appreciation for the way our homes should support the lifestyle we love—comfortable, functional, and inviting. My design journey began by studying Interior Design at Colorado State University and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work as a showroom designer for the second IKEA store in the United States, where I learned the value of smart, space-efficient design. I later designed model homes for a national home builder, creating beautiful spaces that balanced style, function, and everyday living. After returning to Vail in 2019, I noticed a common challenge. Many friends, homeowners, and local businesses were working with smaller homes and condos that needed to do more with less. That realization became the inspiration for Smart Nest Spaces.
